one

Google Nexus venturing along with other third-party partners has been developing and marketing some of the finest android phones in the market for a reasonably lower price compared to the other contemporaries like iPhone, Samsung etc. Google Nexus smart phones are widely praised as the high spec, sleekly designed phones by the smartphone users. The latest model launched by Google Nexus, Nexus 5 has been an eye catcher for the android phone customers.
Another peer in the smartphone market sharing the likeness of Nexus 5 is the recently launched product by Motorola, Moto X, being one of the first products after its acquisition by Google in 2012. Since its release, Moto X has been able to clutch the interest of the mainstream consumers, with prominent admirations towards its hardware design, added customizability in the Android, along with its suite of contextual features and battery life.
Checking out the current android cellular market, both the brands hold the perfect balance of price for the specifications offered. Therefore a majority of customers baffle to decide between the two brands. Considering the intricacy of the situation, we have decided to list down a head to head comparison of the features of the two phones to facilitate the users in choosing a phone that immaculately matches their interests.
Nexus 5 vs. Moto X : The Design
Nexus 5 – Made: Plastic, Protection: Gorilla Glass 3, Thickness: 8.6mm
Moto X – Made: Plastic, Protection: Gorilla Glass 3, Thickness: 10.4mm
With the same protection and manufacturing material, the difference between the two phones considering the design specifications, stands out to be of thickness and size. Moto X is noticeably smaller than Nexus 5, however, there’s only a minute difference in the screen size. The Moto X manufacturers filled up the screen as much of the front of the phone as possible including its sides. This makes the phone design shorter, easier to use and carry without putting much difference on the screen size compared to Nexus 5.
Comparing the thickness of the phones, Nexus 5 is a good deal thinner than Moto X. However, the curvy back of Moto X helps in hiding the bulge pretty well.
Both phones are manufactured out of plastic and have a soft touch finish. Some other comparisons of the design features include the ergonomic edge of Moto X design compared the sharper edges of Nexus 5. While Nexus 5 may have a classy angular design, the Moto X is entirely customizable with a variety of different color combinations to choose from on Moto Maker. There is even a real-wood back available in the showcase for Moto X which in the end makes it a clear winner for the consumers looking for variety.

Nexus 5 vs. Moto X: The Display:
Nexus 5 – Screen Size: 5-inch, Pixels: 1080p (445ppi), Screen Type: True HD IPS+ LCD screen
Moto X – Screen Size: 4.7-inch, Pixels: 720p (312ppi), Screen Type: AMOLED screen
The stats above clearly demarcate the superiority of Nexus 5 over Moto X considering the display features. The Nexus 5 display provides a dazzling outlook to the user, with a considerably higher brightness and stronger resolution. Moto X has a fairly low resolution with a 720p screen. Its colors are also a bit oversaturated thereby giving an edge to Nexus 5 for delivering more natural display outputs. The OLED screen from Moto X allows it to adore the darker levels in the display, with a pretty much regular illumination intensity as compared to Nexus 5 which at times may appear a bit brighter at the edges. Overall, apart from the OLED screen features, Nexus 5 clearly has an upper hand in the display comparison.

Nexus 5 vs. Moto X: Performance:
Nexus 5 – Processor: quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, RAM: 2GB
Moto X – Processor: dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU, RAM: 2GB
While the RAM for both the phones is equal and currently the highest in the market, the difference in the Processor technology clearly makes Nexus 5 stand on the higher grounds. The Nexus 5 tends to be a lot faster than the Moto X in performance. There is a difference of two generations between the technologies, Snapdragon 800 processor in Nexus 5 and Snapdragon S4 Pro chip of Moto X making Nexus 5 ahead of the Moto X. Nexus 5 is indeed much more powerful as compared to Moto X. A prevalent difference may not be noticed in the day-to-day use since both phones are quick enough and can handle high-end 3D games such as Real Racing 3 quite smoothly.

Nexus 5 vs. Moto X: The OS:
Nexus 5 – Android 4.4 with a full-fledged Google Experience UI
Moto X – Android 4.4 with minor Motorola tweaks
The Nexus 5 and Motorola Moto X both come pre-installed with Android 4.4 KitKat. The Android versions of the phone may be same, but the interfaces of both the phones are totally dissimilar. Nexus 5 has a new interface called Google Experience UI, currently being run as a pilot project. The Nexus 5 will also be one of the first devices to get Google’s OS updates. Motorola will be preparing its own new updates for Moto X, and claims to do it faster than any other phone brand.
Nexus 5 vs. Moto X: The Camera:
Nexus 5 – 8MP, LED flash
Moto X – 10MP, LED flash
The Nexus 5 produces good shots, but it was held back due to annoying shutter lag and sluggish speed. This has been recently improved with an update, however, the Moto X is still faster having a 3fps burst shooting option. The camera app has also been customized by Motorola which is much more enhanced than the standard Android software. The Nexus 5 photos are considerably a bit sharper than Moto X’s, but the Moto X offers superior dynamic range. With optical image stabilization feature, the Nexus 5 tends to produce better results in low-light conditions but exposure is generally more even with the Moto X. Both the cameras have their weaknesses and strengths but they are overall pretty decent cameras.
The resolution of Moto X also has a higher megapixel count i.e. 10, as compared to Nexus 5’s 8 MP.
Nexus 5 vs. Moto X

Nexus 5 vs. Moto X comparison is not very conclusive. The final choice is always at the disposal of the consumers who can choose the phone according to their personal likes and dislikes. Nevertheless, the Nexus 5 can be considered as a superior option considering the performance features, while taking into account, the customizability of looks, Moto X tends to be the preferred choice.
